Meridian Medical Arts Charter High School is proud to introduce its new Principal / Executive Director, Dr. Benjamin Merrill.
Dr. Merrill joins MMACHS from Treasure Valley Community College, where he most recently served as the Dean of Career and Technical Education. Prior to his tenure at TVCC, Dr. Merrill amassed extensive experience in secondary education across Idaho and Oregon, holding various roles including teacher, coach, principal, and superintendent in multiple districts.
After receiving his undergraduate degree in History Secondary Education from Boise State University, Dr. Merrill went on to earn his master's degree in Education Administration and his doctorate in Educational Leadership, both from Capella University.
MMACHS is a unique school recognized by the State of Idaho as a Career Technical Center but also serves as a preparatory institution for post-secondary education. Dr. Merrill's diverse background in both college preparatory and Career Technical Education will be an invaluable asset to our campus community.
Dr. Merrill has two children: his son Kellen and his daughter Kaylee, who is a rising sophomore at MMACHS. Education is a major influence in the Merrill household, as his wife, Nanette, is also a building principal in Meridian.
Officially stepping into his role at the beginning of July, Dr. Merrill is eager to hit the ground running. "I am very excited to join the Meridian Medical Arts Charter High School community! As the new Principal / Executive Director, I look forward to visiting with the parents, staff, and students to learn more about the school and its culture," he says.
"I have a core belief that my role is to emphasize academic excellence while also creating memorable and fun high school experiences for ALL students. Neither of these elements should exist in isolation. I hope to have the opportunity to meet many of you before school starts. My door is always open."
We are excited to welcome Dr. Merrill into our incredible community.
Students won't have to wait long to meet our new administrator, as they return to campus on August 7th for registration. The 2024-2025 school year kicks off on August 14th.
Welcome to MMACHS, Dr. Merill!
